I was reading through some of the blog posts created by my fellow bloggers here in the Fashion Blog when I encountered this one about wearing appropriate clothing all the time inside the office. It talked about how a lot of conservative companies require employees, especially female ones, to wear cardigans or office jackets because less clothing give them less power. Wow. Can I just say that I feel that I'm lucky not to be in one of those overly conservative companies? Maybe it's the weather, or it's probably in the culture, but in the company where I am in, office jackets are not really required, as long as people know how to wear business casual wear. On Fridays, rules on clothing are even laxer, with jeans allowed inside the office. Perhaps the height of fashion tolerance in our office was highlighted this morning when I saw my manager sporting a bright red hair do. She had her hair cut very short, bleached her black hair, and dyed it with bright red hair color. Since it was a Monday, she looked very much like a rock star in the office. Everybody greeted hair and chatter with her about her new hair color, so you can see that it was pretty much accepted around the office. One of my fellow starter team mates was envious. She used to have near-waist level hair dyed similarly in that shade of red when she was still in university, only to have it cut short and colored black prior to any of her job interviews. She thought that employers might discriminate against her taste and not consider her for the position even if she's qualified. She was then surprised to find out that the interviewer (our manager) who faced her months ago had some hint of red in her hair. I'm pretty sure that my friend will have her hair dyed in the coming weeks. She's talking about coloring it purple, so let's see about that. You can talk about...
