Everyone in the fashion industry is gearing up once again for the nearing Autumn-Winter season (yes, they prepare this early), which only means one thing--fur is back once again. And the kings and queens of fur fashion design are also back to present us with the most exciting fur dresses out there for the season.

Among those designers who showed their collection for this far-off season is Gilles Mendel, the latest fur king in a fur dynasty stretching to five generations. He is the man to point at when it comes to everything related to fur, and this is helped by the fact that the winter this year is much colder than what is usual. As expected, the King of Fur was the one who wrapped up NY Fashion Week in the NY Autumn-Winter 2011 Fashion show.

Fur and leather are highly controversial--we know that already--but these models of Mendel showed no apology at all when they walked on the runway and wore as many kinds of fur and leather textures and shapes as possible. As a precautionary measures, security officials inspected the bags of all attendees just so no PETA activities go out to spoil the designs.

From deerskin coats to mink and silver fox embellishments, it's no wonder how much irritation it will cause to PETA activists when they find out. Nonetheless, the show remained a hit as Mendel was able to transform fur into something is easily worn during the winter months. Mendel said that this will probably make fur as a clothing option more possible for everyone--although we are sure that this still is not the case because of the exorbitant price charged on fur.

It probably helps that the NY Fashion Week had its limited run live on YouTube. This has made every amateur fashionista an instant fashion critic. Never mind the price of the fur coats.
