Happy with the Necktie

I looked at myself in the mirror and realized how better I looked with it on. It was only a few weeks ago when I finally learned how to wear it, but I thought it was all worth the effort as it made my attire look formal, perfectly fit for the occasion. At that moment, I already loved wearing neckties even though they sometimes feel too stiff for my neck.

In the industry where I work in, business casual wear are not exactly the norm. Jeans, shirts, and practically everything that constitute casual wear is usually the norm in the software development industry. Because these is an industry where technical people are more common than those who mainly coordinate with business personnel, business attire is usually not required.

The case is different in my company because it's a financial institution that has its own in-house tech company. Financial institutions are, most of the time, conservative when it comes to the appearance of their employees, since they usually deal with high-net worth clients. It is of utmost importance that formal business attire is worn during this occassions.

Not everyone knows how to wear a tie. Until recently, I confess that I used to be one of them. There were a few times tat I had to wear a tie as the situation called for it, but I always had some help from other people. It's a bit embarrassing but that's just the way it is. Now that I actually regularly wear a tie, I appreciate the sense of formality that it brings to any attire. Heck, any person caught wearing a tie over a decent jacket will get some instantaneous sense of formality in their clothing.

Now if I could only get it to fit a little more loosely, then maybe it would feel much more comfortable to be that formal in the workplace.
