Set Your Eyes on Australian Fashion Week

If you will look at the global fashion calendar, the major dates are usually reserved for events in the traditional powers of fashion: New York, Milan, London, and Paris. These fashion meccas are traditionally grouped together, having the same intertwined past. Unfortunately, there's less focus on the other emerging growing fashion centers, which seem to be producing a lot of good designers and products as well.

There is a growing change in the East, though, and Australia is there to lead the way to introducing Australian and other designers from the Asia Pacific to the rest of the world. For a very long time, the Australian Fashion Week, officially called the Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, is starting to catch the attention of fashion media worldwide, further increasing the profile of Australian and Asia Pacific designers worldwide.

The Rosemount Australian Fashion Week is a semi-annual industry event, with the spring-summer collection shown in Sydney's Circular Quay, while the trans-seasonal collection is also shown every September in Sydney, formerly in Melbourne. Since Australia has a different climate cycle compared to locations north of the equator, the fashion week cycle here is different, too. This may well be the sole most important reason why the Australian Fashion Week is not as followed as the fashion weeks in New York, Milan, London, and Paris. Still, fashionistas should watch the Australian Fashion Week if they really want to get into the know of latest styles

This year's Australian Fashion Week Spring/Summer edition is no exception. Onlookers were treated to a surprise when former supermodel Yasmin Le Bon showed on the runway to open Gail Elliott's Little Joe Woman show earlier today. Le Bon rarely goes on the catwork these days but she still remains as stunning as ever, doning the free-spirited theme of the collection.

More surprises sure to come out in the coming days. Make sure to keep your eyes on the Australian Fashion Week.
